It’s hard to believe that Fall is just around the corner! This summer was much anticipated all year as we celebrated the 10-year anniversary of Jolene’s Sewing School in June. What a wonderful time that was. The party hasn’t ended yet – we’re still celebrating all year with a coupon code for new fall students! But first, a recap of the summer…
Remembering This Year’s Sewing Camps
This summer flew by with twenty camps for seventy-three students! We had a blast with themes ranging from llamas to cactus to Harry Potter. Look back at our photos on Facebook to see all the incredible work these students did! I am already looking forward to next summer with some new and exciting camps up my sleeve – so put it on your calendar now!
Upcoming Fall Sewing Classes
After school classes are starting Sept 3rd! Please note that classes will now start on the half an hour: 3:30, 4:30, and 5:30 instead of on the 15. Check out our list of classes for kids, teens and adults and sign up now because they’re filling up quickly! New students even get a $10 discount with the code LOVE2SEW!
A note: You may also notice as you sign up for fall classes that I’ve had to increase my prices by $10, the first time in 10 years. While I try to keep my costs down as low as possible for students, the cost of workbooks has risen and it’s finally time for me to raise my rates accordingly. I look forward to continuing to provide my students with fun and quality sewing classes in the coming year!
My 10th Anniversary Celebration!
Thank you all so much for coming to my 10-Year Sewing Celebration in June! It meant so much to me that you came! I had SO MUCH FUN seeing all of you, seeing your beautiful creations, giving away prizes and spending time with all the lovely people who have helped JoLene’s Sewing School become what it is today! In total we had about 85 people attend the party – a HUGE turnout! We had a BLAST! You can read more about the 10-year celebration in my blog about it here.
Student Spotlight
This summer’s student spotlight was this sweet little boy, who ended up being the only one in his camp. He did a wonderful job in Star Wars Camp – just look at that adorable BB-8!
Coming Up
This Fall and Spring I will be hosting two sewing days to benefit NICU babies! Watch for dates to be announced soon!
And lastly, your quarterly sewing tip:
When sewing a project wind several bobbins ahead of time. That way you don’t have to stop and wind one in the middle of a project. I do this for my summer camps too so that when a child runs out of bobbin thread I just grab a pre wound bobbin and put in into the machine. Saves so much time!
I’m looking forward to seeing you all again this fall! Make sure to sign up for classes ASAP to reserve your spot!
Happy Sewing!
JoLene
